This is one of my favorite face-palms every time some self-aggrandizing a-hole tries to argue that my taxes went down because of the stimulus when in fact it only changed the withholding rates, everyones tax liability is still the same as last year. So now all these people that thought they were getting free money are going to find that they owe money at the end of the year. From strictly a political perspective this seems like it was a bad move on the democrats part because nobody is going to remember the money they got earlier in the year, they're only going to see that they aren't getting as much back from their refund or worst case they didn't have enough withheld and now owe.

Both years your tax liability is lower. So, I guess on one hand you are correct that this year your tax liability is the same as last year. But you are 100% incorrect about the rest of your post. Both withholding amounts AND the tax liability were lowered.

Scroll down to page 3, line #63. This is where you save up to $800 on your tax liability. But of course, I'm a self-aggrandizing a-hole for pointing out a fact with the official IRS form to back me up. More information.

What I said applies to almost everyone who pays income taxes. Some people like pensioners aren't helped because they didn't have earned income and thus didn't get either lower withholding or lower taxes.

OP is completely clueless about how taxes work. Getting refund means you overpaid during the year, and lent money to government interest free. It's better to pay more in April and have that money working for you till then.

Well now you made a face palm post for all to see how brainwashed of a Republican you are and know nothing about what you are whining about.

How does that feel?
