"Fox News Sunday's" Chris Wallace announced Friday that he's planning to respond to ABC "Nightline" host Ted Koppel's decision to air photos and names of GIs Killed in Iraq, calling Koppel's broadcast "a stunt."

"I think it is such a stunt," Wallace told WRKO-Boston radio host Howie Carr.

"I will just say one thing to all of your listeners," he added. "Watch 'Fox News Sunday' this Sunday because we are going to have our response to Koppel and 'Nightline.'"

Wallace refused to be more specific about his plans for Sunday's show, but told Carr his response would be "a corrective."

"It's not a stunt, it's a corrective. It's what Fox News was invented to be, which is we're different than the other guys and we're going to give you the other side of the story."

Pressed by Carr, Wallace elaborated just a bit. "We have an announcement we're going to make about Mr. Koppel and 'Nightline' and their show - and our response to it."

Asked if he was "declaring war on Ted Koppel on Sunday morning," Wallace told Carr: "You'll see. Some people may think it's that. ... It's going to make some news."

I bet they're only doing this for ratings. Disgusting. ;)

Wowie wowie. Fox News is a media against the grain. They don't have a liberal slant, they're the fair and balanced mavericks of the field. They're going to make waves around this country with their legions of ultra conformist viewers. Never mind that they're simply more corporate stooges- this time peddling "news" as entertainment for the dry conservatives who don't like "BS fantasy fictional" shows and movies.

Unfortunately there are no unbiased news sources. They all have an agenda and it shows. Journalists are the equivalent of personal injury attorneys..

Probably going to do a piece on Ted Koppel and his politics.

I've always thought of ABC as middle of the road with a little bit of leanings to the right.

How the hell can a channel claim to be fair and then do something like this as 'revenge' for pulling the 'stunt'?

Perhaps many haven't heard of Barbara Walters new "reality" show about adoptions? ABC is desparately hoping to garner attention. There is no bad press, just bad responses to the bad press.

Maybe another extreme to pull it into balnce.

If ya stick 50lbs of manuer one one side of a seesaw ya need to stick stick 50lbs of manuer on the other side to balance it out.

After reading and rereading that a number of times, I've come to the conclusion that it makes no sense. ;)

I actually hold Springer in higher regard. Technically, all he did was allow dysfunctional people to reveal their depravity to a national audience. Walters et al are actually making somewhat normal people look dysfunctional.

how ironic is it that FOX NEWS is so conservative, when FOX itself puts out by far the most pathetic, outrageous, indecent programs out there. I mean they've had "who wants to marry a midget" for christ sakes.

The liberal media is beyond redemption, but those heathens at Fox have destroyed the sanctity of marriage nearly as many times as the city of San Francisco. I only wish the true believers at Fox News would tell their ratings monkey Fox cousins what's what and instill some good American values in them.

So Fox is trying to do what?

Defend the Bush administration from what they perceive to be negative propaganda (= factual statements of recent happenings)?

Isn't that outside the boundry of Journalism? That is to counter facts.

They might as well say: Fox News, Fair and Balanced... and a mouthpiece defender network of and for the Bush administration, and we also wipe his a$$ every once-in-a-while.

Guess it was just for ratings. I tried looking for transcripts from their website but it only linked to an interview about the abuse of the Iraqi prisoners.

Duh, ABC did it to further their agenda. Where have you been. :)
BTW, I was just wondering, did you purposely leave out the winky in the quote?

I didn't see the FOX retaliatory show either.
