I remember it'd be pissing in my pants running away from him as a kid. Even such old game has better sound track and engrossing gritty sound fx than most games today (more so than DII or DIII from what we've seen).

I beat D1 but don't remember the butcher being much of an issue. The butcher in D2 with a load of other minions made you essentially just run around the map attacking when possible.

God my life = ruined when D3 comes out.

The first Diablo was so much better than the second in terms of story and atmosphere. If D3 were D1's story/gameplay with D2's skill system...

D2 had a pretty epic story system and the cinematics were pretty fantastic. Especially once you had the addons and so on.
