Gee, was it all hype? I remember everyone talking about how Transmeta was going to rule the world. Doesn't appear to be the case!

the #1 and #2 best-selling laptops in japan are powered by transmeta. give them time. after all, they did spawn out of nowhere...

True, but they haven't exactly rocketed to the heights that were predicted before they launched their product. Also, with Intel and AMD fighting against them, I suspect they will have a hard time competing.

Too bad they aren't getting enough exposure here. The only Crusoe based notebook I've seen here is the Sony VAIO with the built in camera. That is one hell of sweet notebook.

they will be doing much better next year, early 02 thier new generation 256-bit ( yes 256 ) will come out at 1-2ghz with a new generation of thier emulation techonology as well, which should finally make them able to compete with other mobile cpu`s even performance wise

actually, they have. except for some ignorant bozos who expected transmeta to run intel and amd out of business, i think they're right on schedule.
