actually they were mostly asian. (the book that the movie came from actually had the writer's comments on how he felt that they were being played by white people).

one of the reasons they thought their system worked was because they were asian. If you see a young asian guy betting very large sums of money, its not out of the ordinary/you assume that they are the son of some asian businessman. if you see a young white guy betting huge, you get suspicious (this is all per the book)

I have a distant cousin who was one of the MIT vegas gang - there are several groups of them, not just the ones from Bringing Down the House - lots of money was made there. Said cousin took his winnings and opened a hedge fund business - he's still raking in the dough, says investing is a lot like vegas gambling, only fewer mob goons (I believe that goons is the proper term?).

Of course I wanna see the movie . . . oh, and my distant cousin isn't good looking at all.

Ben Mezrich is a perverted douche who uses the same formula for all his books and just has to throw in lots of chapters where he discusses all sorts of sex related topics.

From his two Blackjack in Vegas books, Ugly Americans where he throws in random chapters about sex in Japan, to his newest one Rigged, where he manages to turn a book about Oil/Dubai to sex, I feel like I'm reading Penthouse letters or something..
