Remember that stylized "S" you drew in school?

I heard a few different stories about what it meant, but they all contradicted each other and most kids I asked didn't even know, they just liked the look of it. It was a pre-internet meme, it existed because someone somewhere made a doodle and we collectively decided that we liked it.

At the time, I do believe I was under the impression that it was the Stussy S .

I thought it meant nothing of no particular origin. That's stylized S is very fun to draw as young'uns- how the lines connect each other then boom- sexy S.

Probably some artsy kid showed it to someone else and it spread from there, no particular significant story.

Looks like a doubly terminated quartz crystal. I never drew that S as a child.

Seems like I remember seeing it as graffiti in movies. Kind of thought it may be graffiti from a breakdance or rap album cover or movie.

I remember drawing that. I always assumed it was related to some skateboard company.

I was drawing it in the late 70s. I think drawing letters and words in different styles was just a thing back then. It's all we had to do. If class was slow I'd draw band logos in my comp book. You'd draw the original and then draw it in different styles. You'd make all the letters touch and figure out which letters were in front and which had to tuck in behind and you had to draw it so it looked right, kinda 3D. A lot of kids drew cars too, with flame jobs. Same thing, you decided which licks of flame were on top. So you had to plan ahead to stop one flame so another flame could lay on top. If your lines cut through and you had to erase it it never looked right.

Edit: lol, and now I'll be listening to old rock music for the rest of the night.

This was a popular thing in the very early 90s and late 80s, died off by the mid to late 90s. I remember my older siblings drawing this thing.
