Remember that lady who sued McDonalds over the hot coffe?

it's called "lack of consortium"

my father was sued for it once. He won when he proved that the reason she wasn't getting any was because she was an ugly hoe, not because he bumper tapped him in his first accident in 45 years due to extreeme sunglare

mdchesne isn't familiar with "consortium"
is that like "it has to be hot... but not too hot"?

I'm going to sue AT for the damage to my eyes that this thread has caused. Also for pain and suffering. I wonder if I can sue NEC, as that is the brand of monitor I viewed this thread on.
I'm going to sue my mother for sure. I would never have been hurt had I not been born. I'd sue my dad but he has no money.

I wish companies would start suiing these people back for the cost it takes them to defend themselves in these useless lawsuits.

Good Old USA: Work Hard, Find the American Dream, Make lots of money
Need "Improved" USA: Slack off, Find someone to sue for some useless reason, Become a millionaire.

The Justice System in this country is so F'd up it's unbelievable.

Yeah, I think I remember not thinking that the coffee lawsuit was quite so dumb after reading the actual case. It was dumb, but there were still some grounds for negligence (as in the coffee was WAY hotter than it should've been, I believe).

But yes, the general depravity of humanity amazes me on a daily basis.

If they didn't let the peppers properly drain, then it is negligence.

Anyone who has ever cooked, and especially worked in the fast food industry where tons of things are deep fried, knows you have to let these things drain or customers are going to burn themselves.

mdchesne remembers back in the day when his mom said "be careful, it's hot!" when she made supper...

guess these people's parent's said "dig right in!" after they set out a tray of smoldering coals

The first sentense says it all

A woman is suing the Pizza Hut in Lehighton, Pa., because the hot poppers she ordered as an appetizer were, well, hot and popped when she bit into them.

What a moron. I think the $25k is so it's cheaper for the company to pay them than to fight it. That said I sure hope they fight it. Stupidity like this just raises costs for the rest of us.

No kidding. What are the judges smoking these days? Burglar's cutting themselves on knives can sue for damages and win...EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE COMMITTING A FELONY AND SNEAKING AROUND IN THE DARK!

It really pisses me off.

Yeah, the coffee lady case was a little diff for those who don't know and just assume (like I did before I found out). McD's coffee is 185 degrees F and it got spilled in between her legs giving her third degree burns all over legs & genitalia. Now the woman had put the cup between her legs trying to pry the lid off 'cuz McD's started using new "safer" lids that don't come off as easy. The woman was a dumbass for putting steaming hot coffee between her legs and trying to pry the lid off in a moving car (she wasn't driving), but 185 F is damn hot. Had it been 20-30F cooler it would have taken a longer time for heavy burns to occur; at 185F the 3rd degree burns occur a lot quicker.

I really wish people would make themselves familiar with the Mc.Ds case before they use it as THE stock "OMG the courts are crazy" example.

I'm going to sue ATOT for it's addictive properties. I am not getting any now, because I am spending all my free time on the computer.

Take now for instance, my wife is laying naked 3 feet away from me, but I can't break myself away from the computer!!

She still spilled coffee on herself.

No need. Lady put the coffee between her legs while driving. She's entirely responsible.

Does that mean I can sue Dan Folgeberg for making me into a pvssy in the mid-70's. Is that possible, huh? Huh?! "Your honor, between him and James Taylor, I didn't get a blow job 'till I was 27 years old. I was in Colorado wearing hiking boots eating granola. I want some fvcking money right now!"

i'm not sure what the things are, but i imagine its a pepper stuffed with cheese and breaded. even if you drain the grease, there is still hot moleten cheese in the middle of that pepper.

and yet, the last clear chance to avoid the accident was on the old woman when she could have made the decision to open it somewhere that didn't stand a chance of burning her. maybe mcdonalds was negligent in making their coffee hot (btw, the evidence used to determine what the 'industry standard' was is well known to be piss poor), but she was more negligent in putting the coffee between her legs to pull of the lid.

The cheese normally isn't going to explode. Sure, the cheese is going to burn your tongue, but if there's still A LOT of oil in there left over from a 370 degree fryer, then you're going to get burned. It's going to be the excess grease that's in the pepper that goes everywhere, like what is described in the article.

She wasn't driving. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, they say. 😉
