There was a Javascript one, too... Those couldn't run over the firewall.

No I am pretty sure it was VB script and correct it does not work in the new version of IE SP1. What it did was created an instance of a WMP object and told that to open a cd.

I once got a frickin' pop-up ad for a "anti-Spyware/virus" program that popped open my CD tray and opened up Notepad. :|
