I was defragging a drive at work today, and i started reminiscing about the old, graphically based defragmenter. I think it would be great if we had at least a screensaver of that thing. Seriously, what was more addicting to watch back then besides the little blocks turning color as they were defragged. My name is IT tech and I have no life, lol. So, more than anything else, this is a tribute to old defrag. Yay old windows!

lol. Windows 98 was my first modern computer (upgraded from Windows 3.1, bit of a leap :p) . I was fascinated by that. And I was in 5th grade and only knew that defragging had to be done every so often and that it sped up the computer :) . That and SS2 actually ran with no issues. Good times.

LOL I remember that defrag, was awesome.

But yeah the restart was horrible. Anoying things that would cause that:

- mouse accidentally hitting start menu or other menu, including right click
- screensaver (this was a piss off if forgot to turn it off)
- and randomly if the mouse just moved too much.

Those blocks were fun though. Probably why it ran so slow though, 80% of the processing was the GUI lol. Now defrag is so much faster and less sensible, I even run it on my live windows server and it goes fine.
