Remember Blood

Man does anybody remember that DOS game called Blood from GT Interactive.

For its time the graphics were incredible. I got the One Whole Unit Triple Pack once for really cheap and sold the darn thing (DUH).

I remember some of the best stuff.
You would shoot a guy in a cloak with the flare gun and they would be okay for a while then they would catch on fire running around really fast, then they would burn out, fall to their knees with their skin dripping off of them and as their body hit the ground big chunks of blood would spray up.

Also blowing anything up was an exreme riot. Along with shooting zombies' heads off and being able to kick them around leaving a trail of blood everywhere.

Truly an awesome game.
If anybody remember this write down your favorite part.

One of my favorites from the DOS days ("It burns! it burns!") -- ever poked someone to death with the pitchfork? 😀

The Windows sequel Blood 2 was OK, but missing some of the fun and atmosphere from the original. It also had some game-balance problems where at any level above easiest you just didn't have enough ammo for some parts. The expansion was even worse on the level design, but was somewhat enjoyable using an ammo cheat.

[ ed ] Blood 1 also had an awesome but well-balanced final boss level. Hard to win but actually doable, and without spending half an hour ducking strafing and sniping. Loved the Army of Darkness quote at the end too.

My favorite weapons were the shotgun and the dynamite! A very good game for it's time, and still very much playable. I got it a few years ago in a package with 3 games for 10 bucks, Shadow Warrior - another great game, and another one I never played.

It was all right.. fun for a bit, didn't really like it that much. DOS games I played the most were Hexen, One Must Fall, DoomII, Duke3D and Shadow Warrior

All of those games were awesome.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a place to (still) buy a copy of Blood. I have a copy of Blood 2 but I never had the chance to buy the first one.

Man, I remember those games. Blood ruled! If I remember correctly Blood had the spray can and the lighter for a flame thrower, or the vodoo doll, and the beating heart!!?!?
And Shadow Warrior was just a kick in the . . . . . Loved the nuke card! Or those freaking heat seeking rockets that really worked. Although the best part of those was after a person launched it at you and then you ran passed them, the rocket would track them 🙂 (kind of like a stickybomb in Jedi Knight) Let's not forget about the tank!

We used to play it all the time. "It burns! It burns!" was the best! We used to bet on who's guy would be the first to scream it. 🙂 I still have Blood... We loaded it up one time but it was just so blocky we couldn't bear it. It's funny how there was nothing wrong with it when we first played it, but after getting used to recent versions of UT and Quake it was hard on our eyes.

The other one that was cool was... I think it was called Shadow Warrior. The one where the guys sings, "Row, Row, Row your boat. Gently down the stream. OH! I think my dingy's hanging out!" He was a ninja or samari or something and had other funny stuff he said. I remember this one board where you could get in a tank and use the tank to bombard people in buildings until they snuck around and shot you from behind.

Edit: oops.. didn't see your post. Are we talking about the same game? or do I have the wrong name?

I liked Blood quite a bit back in the day (though I remember one of the bosses would overwhelm my mighty 486/66!). I remember being amazed that you were not only rewarded for killing the screaming innocent bystanders (through getting life from them), but in one instance you had to kill one of them to get a needed key. Once my eyes had seen 3D-accelerated Quake 2, though, it was hard to go back and play Blood.

Does anyone know if there is a conversion for Blood similar to Jdoom for Doom/Hexen/etc.?

I guess I have to Google tonight and see 🙂
