Back in like 1999 there were a bunch of companies that paid you to surf the web. You had to download a banner program and it would flash advertisements while you were on the company. Of course, people found ways to cheat the system and they all went bankrupt. But another company is trying it again...this time, instead of a banner ad program, you just open a webbrowser to their rotating ad page. They pay $.45 an hour. .45 * 24 * 30 = $324 a month. Of course, you can make more with referrals, but that's not allowed here.

Who knows how long they're going to last. You can get your payouts sent to your paypal account though. Minimum payout is $25.

If you would like to thank the people in the thread, find someone who has already signed up and PM them asking for a referral link. They cannot be posted in the thread (so don't do it) but plenty of people have already stated that they've signed up (myself included) and will be able to send links out over PM. There's no reason not to do this if you're going to sign up.

Anyone expecting big payouts from this will have to be doing something illegal or against the TOS. Have fun filling up your change jars :)

What is the payout rate?
When you first join Surf Junky we start you off with $.45 per hour. With regular account activity you will earn points. These points give you higher payout rates up to $.75 per hour. No activity to your account will result in a loss of points.

Are they gonna send me a bill:Q

The points are just to get you to the next payout bracket...so you get $.50 an hour or whatever instead of $.45. You can't lose money.

this seems way too easy.... you don't have to actually do anything, just let the window sit let it load random webpages...im going to see what happens if i run it on an old p166 in linux, never touching the thing....

pm if you want a cheap date with my sister or some other sleazy proposition, like a referral

I remember AllAdvantage, and usually got about $50 a month from it (pretty good for a college freshman at the time)

I signed up for this the other day, but still cant figure out how to launch the "money making bar". Any ideas?

left it running on the linux box for a little while..went back to it, it closed out the page, and just went to the surfjunky page....does it require some user action every so often?

The site is getting hammered. It throws users back to the main page every once in a while. I'm guessing that's when their servers get overloaded.

Ummmmm..... I was there for these little money making schemes. It was great to do in a dorm since electricity is already covered in the dorm fees. But at you personal place where you do need to pay electricity. $.45 / hr won't even cover the electricity for running that computer. Granted if you have it on already to fold molecules or seti then this would be nice as long as there is not requirements to click or move the mouse.

Just my 2 cents

Iono, a lot of people leave their computers on 24/7. Why not get paid a bit to do it too. I am in a dorm though, so that makes it even sweeter for me.

The bulk of the money isn't in your own time...it's in your referrals.

it seems like every once in awhile (every hour or so?) it can't load a page and i get a "Page Not Found" page-of-death. and sometimes it reverts back to the surfjunky.com main page... i hope these are just temporary problems associated with the anandtech effect...

looking forward to months of leaving this running while sleeping... thanks OP. btw, i signed up a little while ago and accumulated about $1 already haha :)
