It has always been frustrating that Microsoft does not have a simple check-box option to copy all files to the hard drive (i386 directory) so that the user will not be prompted for the setup disc while installing new hardware and Windows components in the future.

I don't see a way to do this with unattend.txt/WINNT.SIF. It looks like the only way is to boot to a floppy disk with the CD in the drive and run the setup program with an optional parameter. Because I'm trying to create a one-step setup disc, I need to have this function work with just the CD. Is it possible to do this with unattend.txt/WINNT.SIF?

I would think that you could setup an answer file or a udf file to do that if your doing a remote installation.

Think he's doing a custom built pvr solution for clients. The disk remaster is so he can hand them a cd to get the box in a workable fashion if something bombs out. At least that's what I've gleaned from the other threads.

So a remastered CD would work, unless he did some fancy networking to point to an external website. Which of course would be interesting, but rough on the bandwidth.

I've already done that

The remastered disc works great and it follows WINNT.SIF (unattend.txt) perfectly. I just want Windows to copy all source files to the hard disk and store appropriate settings in the registry so that users are never prompted for the original disc. Since Win95, most OEM's have done this because it significantly reduces tech support calls (at the expense of disk space, of course).
