Remapped caps locks key.. problems?

I remapped my caps locks key to ctrl using a registry hack in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout

After doing so, my computer seems to boot up slower. It seems to hang for a bit on the splash screen, and again on "Starting Windows." Can these be related? I haven't really changed any other software on my computer to my knowledge. I'm on Windows 7, if it matters..

One of the first things I do is remap caps lock and I've never had this problem.
