Remap keyboard keys?

maybe this has already been answered before but i couldnt find anything.

Can i remap the extra key some keybaords have to do other functions, such as launching alternate programs?

My hp laptop came with keys to lauch the included quickplay application, and it is not very good. Can i remap the kay to launch media centre instead? The included HP software has no such function.
 
there are a few programs that are availaboe out there for the media keys, but they are hard to find. With enough searching you can find some good third party media key remapping software.
For remapping standard keys on keyboards (not those special media keys), you can use the excellent windows macro program, autohotkey.
