'A Buddhist monk has been accused of stoking religious tensions leading to the persecution and even the deaths of members of the Muslim minority in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma.

Shin Wirathu leads the 969 campaign which aims to force people not to use Muslim businesses.

Many are blaming him and the nationalist organisation he helps, for inciting violence against Muslims in Sagaing in the north of the country.

The BBC's Jonah Fisher has travelled to the monastery where he teaches in Mandalay.
'

I have to say that I side with the monk, he has a point when he says that his teachings are not what instigated the attack but that his followers simply reacted in anger to the killing of a monk.

What do you think?

3 way Lesbo is hard to ignore. :colbert:

Srsly though, 2 points:

1) [usual soapbox]This is the kinda BS that Religion causes[/]
2) The Monk is not helping the situation at all. He is erecting Walls where Bridges are what is needed.

No, this is the kind of thing that fundamentalism causes. Your average Muslim, Jew, Christian, Catholic, Hindu, Athiest, whatever, gets along just fine with other people. It's when you get the fundamentalists involved that people start passing judgement.

Fundamentalist atheists are just as bad as fundamentalist Muslims. They're both hatemongers with more emotion in their "arguments" than logic.

IMO, they're all fucking stupid.

That said, who fucking cares if some nutjob and his followers want to boycott a specific kind of business?

There is no "building bridges" with Islam. Once they reach a certain percentage of the population, the country goes to shit.

It used to be the complete opposite but the religion started teaching that certain knowledge was against the religion and they haven't recovered since.

I am very thankful that we have, so far, stopped certain religions from doing the same thing here in the US.
