It was on clearance for half off so I bought it.
Just took a look at it and realized ...
dun - dun - dunh!
It's frozen food for the religious right.
creepy!
First, the name is "Glory".
Now in and of itself, that really doesn't trigger any alarms, but then I notice that right on the front it says this food is good for your soul

My suspicions were confirmed when I read the back of the package

:D

Nah. Anti-religious fanatics like to blame anything and everything on religion so they can bash it.

From the www.gloryfoods.com website:

About Us
The opportunity to offer fully seasoned, heat-and-serve canned vegetables that celebrated the time honored tradition of slow-simmered, down-home Southern cooking was the catalyst behind the development of Glory Foods®, Inc., founded by the late William (Bill) F. Williams, with Iris Cooper, Dan Charna, and the late Garth Henley. The name Glory Foods was chosen to celebrate the excitement and joy of foods that offer warm, cherished memories of Southern cooking that exults the spirit - Good Taste for the Table, Good Taste for the Soul!®

Research revealed that while consumers enjoy eating greens, beans and peas, they dislike the preparation time involved in cleaning greens and soaking beans. Glory Foods seasoned canned vegetables represent a flavorful and convenient approach to old traditions. Cleaning greens and soaking beans are history!

Glory Foods products offer the taste, texture and slow-simmered process of foods prepared in the tradition of the South. The Ohio State University Food Industries Center served as an important Research and Development facility to develop and test recipes that have become the unique flavor profile of Glory Foods. In 1992, Glory Foods officially launched its convenient to use line of seasoned, Southern-style canned vegetables and side dishes. Today, Glory Foods products are household staples in homes throughout the United States, and Glory Foods seasoned canned greens are the No.1 selling canned greens in the country.

Responding to the consumer?s desire for variety in frozen meals, Glory Foods® created a flavorful Southern recipe inspired selection of frozen entrees and side dishes. Glory Foods Savory SinglesTM, Savory AccentsTM and Savory Family SizeTM offers yet another meal planning solution for busy Mom?s and families on the go, with timesaving oven ready and microwaveable frozen entrees and side dishes for one or the entire family.

In 2001, Glory Foods established a Fresh Produce Division to market premium selections of washed and ready-to-cook fresh-cut bagged vegetables. The convenient-to-use line of bagged vegetables offers flavorful and healthy vegetables ? quick nutritious meal solutions, versatility and a trusted brand name.

Glory Foods is a brand name consumers trust to deliver on its promise of having a significant point-of-difference to other products available to consumers. Glory Foods will continue with its tradition of offering innovative and full flavored products that appeal to the busy consumer?s lifestyle and meal planning choices.

Glory Foods® is a privately held company located in Columbus, Ohio.

Yes, we all know that the idea that a woman belongs in the kitchen is strictly a religious idea.

I think the Glory Foods name is designed to appeal to southern customers. Not overtly xtian but folks might draw that conclusion and the marketers might not mind it if they did. Not like bible cheese you can buy in KY, now that's in your face xtian.
