When are people going to wise up to it? Are they ever going to wise up to it? I digress..

As I'm sure you've heard the Buddhists believe change comes from within. For all of the other religions, reality is too bitter a pill to swallow for such change to occur because they have been so far out of touch with reality for so long they feel as if their own identity is under attack instead of seeing themselves as an ever changing or changeable individual.

As Bruce Lee once said "Be like water my friend" or something to that effect, I'm paraphrasing...But I digest...

Damn, I was shore you were being littoral.

Shore... littoral... Haw!

Well at least this religious group isn't going around killing women, children and people who don't believe in their crap.

Religion in general is a crock of shit. I'll say it a again. Crock-of shit!

I don't need to practice certain rituals and go to church to believe in the son of God. I have a bible, I have the Internet to search Bible Gateway, and I just try to live like a decent damn human being. I do that by giving to charities including the occasional homeless man (it's the thought that counts) and trying not to sin.

I am a baptized Lutheran, but the last time I went to church was circa 1993. I think the only time I would go to church is passover and Christmas. That's it! Most of the time you don't even hear a religious sermon, but a mouth full of political BS.

But I have to say, the nicer, bigger churches with the church choir singing Christmas music that echoes through the church is something to hear and witness. It's like you're in heaven or something.

Eh, let the snake handlers be. At least their crazy only hurts themselves. Now, if they were releasing snakes into the middle of the local walmart and asking people to test their faith over the intercom...then this would be worth worrying about.

No religion does that

There are a lot of dead Muslims that, if they could, would disagree with you.

Also, you could include:
Indian National Congress supporters that killed a few thousand Sikhs.
Also throw in some Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Muslims killed.

Then, you can look at when Muslims were doing the purging, and look up Jammu and Kashmir when Muslims killed Hindus.

There are reports that in Syria, Christians are being ethnically cleansed by muslims.

Burma anti-muslim riots.

Then you have ISIS.

So other than the times that it has happened, it has not happened.

Why did you leave out Judaism?
Have you had to protect yourself from these attacks from almost everyone around you?

I leave Judaism out because Judaism doesn't do it. There are only two proselytizing religions that spread by violence, other religions leave non-believers alone. Please do yourself and ATOT a favor, pull your head out of your ass for a few minutes and attempt to educate yourself on which two religions proselytize and the body counts they have racked up doing so. Let me give you a hint to get you started off on the right foot. One starts with a C, the other starts with an I, see if you can learn which ones they are.

I like when the hyper religious win Darwin awards.

I don't like seeing things like this happen. These people believe in things like this because they were indoctrinated by other people, possibly from a young age. If they don't go killing themselves they have the potential to realize that their beliefs are wrong. Or at least they can still function as valued and appreciated human beings both in and out of their social circles even if they hold on to irrational beliefs, if the extent of their damage is kept in check.

It also isn't much of a Darwin award if they were done reproducing, and I don't really like the insinuation that stupid or reckless behavior is purely genetically heritable.

I see groups of people attacking each other over lot's of different reasons.
Did Buddhism teach the Buddhists to attack Muslims?
Did Hinduism teach the Hindus to attack Muslims/Sikhs?
Do the Muslims that help the Christians fight against Daesh follow a different Islam?

I was just reading some news about followers of Judaism burning some houses and killing children in the West Bank, and a group stabbing and killing some gays in Jerusalem

What's the difference between this and when a Christian or Muslim does it?
Do you think it is only the threat of prison or the death penalty that keeps the Christians in line in the US?

I may never know if you actually believe the things you say. The claim was that this religious group is not doing X. You then respond by saying that no religion does that. I first thought you used religion in place of religious group because you were being casual. But, when provided examples of religious groups killing women, children and people who do not have the same beliefs, you counter with the claim that the religions do not say to do the things they have done.

I don't think you are so stupid as to not understand. I think you have created a obfuscated moral code out of a misguided sense that criticizing religion is wrong, so that when you jump to responses that deflect or wander the topic so that nothing is ever addressed.

No religion teaches people to kill other people of different religions.
People of all religions kill each other, people with no religion kill each other

You can criticize religion all you want, when you have to make up stuff though it makes you the shitty person

How did you not notice that Outhouse was trying to deflect the topic?

Ah gotcha now. You are the type that sees others doing something wrong, and does something equally wrong too.

Also, he made a general statement and was not quoting anyone. At worst you can take his post to be a silver lining that even though the beliefs are stupid, they are at least not trying to push them onto others. That is not a deflection to me, but if you think so then fine.

Your response was not addressing that though. You could have said that you felt it did nothing to further the conversation. Instead you seem to have taken the childish approach and deflected to further deflect if I understand your statement.

Either way, his claim was about groups who formed because of their central belief, and responded about religion. If your point was to further deflect, then you are childish. If you did not realize then you were dumb and could simply admit that, but you did not so I will go with the former.

His post was a perfect response. You have been responding since he made it to a burr that got up your ass. You are a person who constantly fails to see the big picture because you examine the dots. It is self hate that causes people to kill other people, not religion. Religion is a cure for that disease, one so severe, that only a few can be saved. More are saved by religion than any other way.
