Anyone know the best thing to do for sinus pressure? I've tried loads of acetaminophen (Tylenol), Aleve, Ibuprofen, Benadryl and even Vicodin. NOTHING will relieve the pressure and I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. I've been sick for about a week now but the sinus pressure is the only thing I can't tolerate. Sleep is about the only relief from it I get but obviously, I can't sleep 24 hours a day.

Aside from seeing a doctor and applying pressure to my temples/bridge of my nose, do any of you have any good suggestions for getting rid of sinus pressure?

You need a decongestant rather then a pain killer. Most of what you listed won't do much for you for the congestion, just the pain that goes with it. Benadryl is an anti-histamine, which will help with allergys but do nothing for sinus congestion, which is the pressure you feel.

FTW

That was going to be my next approach but I was under the impression that most of those aren't for instant results and have to be in your system for a while to take effect.

I haven't tried Sudafed yet so I may give that a go. I have had sinus pressure before but never this constant and severe. I honestly feel like someone has the center of my head in a vise and it tightening it every few minutes. I can't even focus on this computer screen because of how bad it is. But I missed a couple days of work last week from being sick so I'm forced to deal with it. :(

If you are daring, you could try sinus flushing. Google sinus flushing and you will find plenty of info on how to do it. I have done it before and it makes you worse for a few hours but then it gets better. You are basically filling up your sinuses with a solution and letting it flow out trying to get out all the contaminents. I haven't done it this year yet but when my sinuses act up I will probably do it.

time to see a doctor, really. you probably have a sinus infection and need to be on antibiotics.

vicks vapor rub is the solution I use when I have some sort of sinus pressure/related symptoms. That stuff does wonders and it is almost instantaneous. It will at least help make it easier to breathe until you go to a doctor to get some sort of prescription.

I honestly go for spicy food. That'll clear out the pressure far faster than any medicine. Then, you can take medication if you need it (not just pain releivers).

Also, think of seeing a doctor if it persists much longer, it could be a sinus infection.

i hate clogged sinuses. I had it so bad I could barely hear. The doctor told me to take tylenol for the pain, sudafed for the pressure, and nasal spray for the blocked nose. She said to do that for 3 days and if it still wasn't good to come to the office and see her about it.

At the risk of ruining someone's lunch: I was told that if you have a sinus infection, your mucus will be yellow or green. Mine is completely clear which leads me to believe that I don't have an infection. Also, breathing out of my right nostril is no problem. That passage is totally clear. However, my left nostril is pretty congested.

As Crescent mentioned, it's affecting my hearing as well. I feel like I'm in some serious altitude from my ears being so stuffed up with this mess. I may try the sinus flushing as well as the Sudafed. I can breathe "okay"...it's just the pressure that's driving me nuts. I'll probably go see a doc first thing in the morning if I can't alleviate this on my own by tonight.
