I am considering replacing the two daisy-chained 8-port Trendnet TEG-S80g switches in my wiring closet at home with a single 16 or 24-port Gigabit switch.

Other than Dell PowerConnect 2624's, what are some other makes and models of reliable 16 or 24-port Gigabit switches that can be bought used for a good price?

Thanks!

Yeah, but other than Dell PowerConnect 2624's, what used Gigabit switches are cheap and reliable?

ViviTheMage,

I tried to view the link to the sale thread that you posted, but I apparently don't have access to those forums - I assume due to my low post-count.

Would you mind telling me more about the switch in this thread, or send me a PM?

Thanks!

Stay away from 16 port switches that do not have fans. When a 16 port switch is fully loaded the heat that is generated can over time cause the unit to fail. I had a Netgear 16 port switch fail because of the heat and replaced it with a 24 port Netgear switch with a fan and the unit runs very cool all the time in the exact same location. Just my 2 cents.
