Reliable PHP/MySQL server

Hey...long time lurker, first time poster...

I'm currently learning SQL and XML in a CIS class that I'm taking, and I figure that I might as well learn PHP while I'm at it. The servers my school is using for the class restrict PHP support, so I can't use those. Does anybody know of any reliable hosts that I could practice PHP on? The only problem is that I really don't have any money right now, so I'm hoping to find a free one..

Also, does anybody have any good links to PHP resources, because it seems like there is just too much information out there.

Since you are able to make a post, I assume you have your own computer? Just install PHP/MySQL server on your computer. There's a package called PHPTriad (include Apache, PHP, and MySQL) all in one package installer.
