I just recently had my Ricoh 6x4x24 CD-WR go out after a little under 2 years. I will be replacing it but would like to know which manufacturer produces the most reliable and LONGEST LASTING :) CD-R or CD-WR. I don't burn too many Re-Write Discs. So any words of experience will be very appreciated, Thank You

Well, plextor obviuosly, but I have several HPs that have been very heavily used, like at least 10 a day, and have yet to fail.

I've had 2 lightly used HP's that lasted 1 month past the warranty period, then puked. I'll never buy an HP again. Besides, HP doesn't even make them, they are made by Sony or Philips - neither of which are too good, IMO.

Heck, I've had an OEM BTC 2x2x6 drive for almost 3 years and it's still going strong. I also have an Acer that's been dandy. You can get a 12x10x32 Acer for under $100 these days.

I myself have a Ricoh and as it stands right now I'd buy another one!!
but if you want to go with a different brand, I have used a few 12/10/32 LG drives which seem really nice. they look pretty nice on the front even.. give that a try.. they're a great value!

I not 100% sure but I have had my Yamaha CDRW 4260 SCSI for at least 4 years now. It's still going as strong as ever. Just a bit slow thats all. But, I'm like you I don't burn too many CD's.

nearly all the burners being produced right now are of nice quality and good technology. I remember back then when a 4x burner couldn't burn an audio CD at 4x but now you can burn 16x audio CD's and have them perfect everytime.
