hi

i recently got Lite-On 40x12x48 CD-RW and been getting errors with the memorex CD-RW discs i bought. the Lite-on seemed to work better with Imation CD-RW disc but i couldn't find them at compusa or bestbuy stores.

the problem is, i bought 20 memorex discs and don't know if i can get a refund from compusa.

what other CD-R/CD-RW discs work well with NERO 5.5.6 and Lite-On drive?

pls help!

thank you,
kl

You shouldn't have any troubles with Memorex media... Try updating the firmware on your CD-RW drive. If you still have problems, then there are plenty of good alternatives. TDK and Maxell are two brands I have used successfully (As well as Memorex) and consistently.

A second vote for update the firmware. I have a 40X LiteOn and it used to suck with the shipping firmware. I now use ZS0P and all is well. I have also found there is a BIG difference in media quality. Now I only use Fuji CDRs made in Japan. They are 48X disks and work incredibly well at 40X speed. Soon I will flash the 48X firmware in it and write at 48X speed...

I use Fujifilm and Sony only. Don't mess with the cheap and expensive junk ones.
Fujifilm and Sony are often few bucks after rebate.

Agreed, I have a 16x10x40x Lite-On and it works with every type of CD-R/CD-RW media since I flashed the BIOS.

I love the plain white Verbatim cdr's. They're great because you can write anywhere on the top without any logos or lines in the way. Sams Club (here in NC) is selling 50 packs of them for $9.00

Using them with a 32x LiteOn, btw. I must have burned 400 of them or more, can't say I've every had any trouble.

I have some TDK 48x discs that work fine.

Then again, I only have a 12x burner. :p

I agree. I have a Lite On 48x12x48x, which has not shown to have any preference for a particular brand of CDR discs.

Try to go back to the store you bought your system and ask them for another Drive to test..
It might be a Drive problem or something else that is related to your system..
I am using a Lite-on 40x12x48x with ZSON firmware... and i manage to burn every single Type of CD available to me in Malaysia..
So far... All i have been burning are.... some Really cheap cDs... and Imations...
Seems to have no problem at all...

whoa, i must be really lucky with my burners and media. Everything i've thrown at my Sony External 4x4x12 and Plextor 40x12x40 internal have worked. From SOny, Fuji, Memorex, Philips, Imation, and no name brands.

It's been a while since i've used Sony discs, perhaps that will be my next upgrade. =)

Fuji CDs are top notch.

Anyone use Mitsumi CDRs? I heard those were awesome.
