releasing adapter / zonealarm question

Lately, instead of engaging the 'stop all internet activity' option in zonealarm, I've been going to winipcfg and releasing the cable modem adapter.

Long after this is done, I still see blocked attempts on zonealarm, mostly from addresses in my group (or whatever its called), e.g. 68.80.xxx.xxx

So shouldn't releasing the adapter cut off all access to my computer from the outside?

Don't know the answer to your question.
But on using the Internet lock: If ZA is configured properly is it necessary to disable a connection? I know a lot of people use this or the Stop button but ZA recommends only using these in an emergency. I would assume that means during an attack or some such thing.
