Release Of The Pentium D

Does anyone happen to know what month/year maybe even day it was released. My friend claims his is a pentium D, but he built his computer over a year ago.
 
I think they were released around July or so, can't remember for sure. Maybe he is confusing it with a Celeron-D..

i would also go to the ligher side of presler but with intels new chips coming out in few months it might be a waste.
 
see, we both made computers, i went amd he went intel because of his little knowledge of computers, his computer for sure has a Pentium 4 2.4c and i have a Athlon 64 3200+ Newcastle, i have 2 gigs of OCZ stuff, and he has 512 and kingston vs. I have a x700 for vid card(temp) and he has some FX4500 or some crap and he things his dominates over mine. And he claims that he has a Pentium D to everyone, but will not say it in front of me. He also bashes my computer and its starting to make me mad because no one knows computers(as much as I do which is very little) in my school so they believe him. He is an intel junkie(sry bout the stereotype) and is just reading clock speed.

I am much happier with my Presler than I was with my Smithfield, and it keeps up with my X2 fairly well, and runs cooler OC"d that my Smithfield ran at stock.

What I am hoping is that ausu dose a bios update for P5WD2 so i can just pop a Conroe in there in the next few months . A 3.33 ghz 1333 FSB dual core cpu sounds like gold and if i can keep my mobo a CPU trade in should only cost $300-$500

He is an idiot. You 3200 will trounce a 2.4c stock (you didn;t say if he OC'ed) Have hime run benches, and then bench yours. Do it side by side. If he won;t then call his bluff.
