so are halo and half-life 2 still expected to come out this month? i would think they would try hard to release halo before half-life 2 to maximize sales.

any other big videogames we can expect for the holidays?

Bungie already said Halo is coming out in 2004, they said it is just too massive of a game and too big of a title to rush out before it is ready. So We're looking first or second quarter of 04. HL2, no word yet, but doubtful it would release so soon without a barrage of press.

Yeah, and we all know how accurate THEY are...
That's for sure, but it's better than nothing I suppose.
Actually, they are as accurate as anyone can be. They get the info from the developers, which is the most anyone can do.

But take Star Wars Galaxies, for example... They had what seemed to be an ambitious ship date, and pretty much everyone else was claiming it would be delayed again. But they were right, and it launched on the day that EBGames said it would.

And what a release it was. I don't think I saw 1 good review of that game. They all said it wasn't debugged.

No, it wasn't. I was part of the Beta, and was one of the people saying "No way it will be released on that date."

No, they get the info from the publishers, and in Valve's case Vivendi holds no say when it comes to the HL2 release date. Vivendi has been giving out BS dates for the past month. Doug Lombardi said in a recent interview (within the past week or so) that HL2 is still on target for Sep 30, but it would extremely close. Until you hear the actual release date directly from Valve, all other retailers are just pulling dates out of their orifice.
