Relationship Withdrawal

My girlfriend and I called it quits tonight, after 329 days of relationship bliss. We didn't part on bad terms at all, she just wants to be able to see other people to find out exactly what she's after in life - she is 17, and I am 18. I feel really sad. Not bad, though, just really sad. It was completely unexpected in every way, but I understand. I can't be mad at her, though: I love her too much.

Any ideas on how to "move on" from a super-duper wonderful loving relationship?
thanks,
randal

Happened to me two months ago... relationship of 2.5 years.

Was crying every day for a month, and I'm still not over it.

Never look back. Always keep your eye on the future. If you start with woulda...shoulda....coulda, you will drive yourself nuts. Be yourself, hold your head high, and treat the girl with respect regardless of what happens and you will come out ahead in the whole deal. I know it sounds like BS, but dont wallow in self-pity. Make a pledge to smile and say HI! to every female you encounter in the next 2 weeks, you will be very surprised at what happens. You just might find a better deal.

one thing that we promised each other is to have no regrets -- hence why I'm not "sorry" for what happened, just sad. As for smiling and saying Hi to every girl ... that's not a bad idea. I'm sure it will boost my self-esteem. As for finding someone better, that's gonna take a while for me to believe it's possible.

thanks,

I am serious on that, I mean pledge to do it. Not just a couple of chicks, but every female that you think even has a remote possibilty of being in any kind of relationship with you. If 2 weeks doesnt do it, make it a month or 2 months, before long it will be second nature and making a new g/f jealous of your flirtatious nature :p

I use it all the time. I have been married for 10 years, and it still makes my wife mad when I get down about something and fire up that old trick to spruce up my outlook on life. Even the hottest of chicks will smile back and return your greeting, I mean unless your look like an alien from Q3 or something :)

I had a similar experience over the summer, the only difference was that my relation ship was about 2.5 years. My best advice is to really get to know yourself. After long relationships are lost, you are a different person than you used to be. Take a step back and look at how you're different and how you've changed.
