Garages make the car rust faster. Even if it's not heated, the heat from the engine is enough to start the snow melting process faster, and the salt starts to eat into the metal too. If it stays outside in the cold the salt does not work and the snow does not melt as much.

So tell her you're just trying to make her car last longer.
