relationship between windows api and MFC?

Does anyone know how to say this best? I really cant think of a good answer for this and we need to know it for a test in networking/data comm
 
MSDN docs for MFC has a decent "official" statement about being a "thin layer" etc. Look for the introduction or overview part of the MFC docs.
