Rejuvenating mouse skates?

I use a hard surface for gaming and buy the Hyperglide mouse feet from FrozenCPU. Over a month or two these things tend to get chewed up a bit by dirt and dust on the mouse pad and get "grabby." A simple cleaning does not get them back to slippery anymore. Anyone have any ideas to restore these things? Seems wasteful to toss them every time they wear a little since they are a bit pricey.

Hey that's not a half bad idea! I was thinking along the lines of like sanding them down or something but it makes more sense to put tape over them and trim it down. Smart.

Well as long as I was going to tape them I figured I'd try something. Took a sharp pocket knife and ran the blade across it perpendicular to the surface just scraping off a very tiny layer until all the scratch marks were out and it looked smooth again - voila! Smooth action once again. This maneuver ought to extend the life of these things about 10-fold.

I use armor all on my old everglide mouse pads when I put new skates on.. Do that every few weeks and they last.

you can buy ptfe tape in various sizes and thickness, thats essentially what they are selling you...by the roll instead.
