Reinstalling XP Pro With Just Product Key

Someone I know wants me to reinstall Windows XP Pro on a homebuilt machine. They bought the computer from someone else and didn't get a XP install CD or Product Key sticker. I was able to use KeyFinder to record the XP Product Key, but both the XP Pro OEM and XP Pro Retail CDs I've used reject the old Product Key. Is there a way to tell what kind of install CD was used?

You can look at My Computer, Properties .. on the first screen it will tell you
if you have OEM version of windows .. It is in the product ID ... You should
use Belarc Advisor or AIDA32 ... both of which will give you both the product
ID and the License Key ... Media must match the key .. Retail or OEM
XP Home or XP Pro ... it is also possible the OS that was installed was an
Upgrade or maybe an illegal copy.
