Reinstalling XP Pro with a RAID-0 - question

I'm thinking about doing a clean install of Windows XP Pro (and then upgrading back to SP2). I'm slowing getting more and more minor issues with my system and I think it is time to start clean.

The question I have is that I have a RAID-0 set up. Can I avoid having to reconfigure the RAID? Basically I'd like to wipe the OS and my apps without having to go back and redo the RAID.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

You shouldn't have to redo anything on the RAID controller. Just start windows setup and give the RAID drivers, then format like you would any other HD. No need to rebuild anything on the RAID level.

Ok thanks!.

So just to summarize so I have it correct. I create a new Windows XP Pro install disk by slipstreaming SP2 into it (I can do this). Then I boot from the new XP disk and format the hard drive and reinstall XP. After this I reboot the machine and install the rest of my drivers as needed (ie. video card, printer, scanner etc).

Thats pretty much it! Dont forget the need to install the RAID0 drivers during initial setup though (Pressing F6 to install drivers from floppy)

Sorry for being such a NOOB but when exactly do I hold F6? ie. During the initial startup with the Windows XP CD? Or after I format?

I just want to make sure I don't end up with a really messed up system....

I may have found the answer to my own question in another forum with someone who did this with the same motherboard as I have:

"I am not familiar with the P4P800E-Deluxe, but it is probably similiar to the P4C800E-Deluxe so I will describe it from this perspective.

Sounds like you've got the bios setting for the promise controller set to RAID and sucessfully created the array using the ctrl F utility. The "enhanced mode w/SATA is for the intel ICH5R raid and has no affect on the promise.

As you begin to install Windows XP immediately hit the F6 key indicating you have a third party driver. When it prompts you insert the Fastrak 378RAID driver floppy. The SATA driver is not needed (and should not be loaded) for a raid install.

I think you may also need to leave the floppy in while windows installs."

Do it when it asks for it at the bottom of the blue screen right after it begins booting off the CD
