reinstalling windowsXP

My system is a few years old, running slow and has a lot of junk on it. I keep it pretty well maintained, but I do like to reinstall the OS once every year or two. I did it every year with 98, but the XP requires authentication and authorization, and I am not sure if I will run into a problem after I reinstall it and try to authorize it.

Any hints, tricks, ideas as to make it go smoothly?

I've not had any problems with reactivating the OS with a simple reinstall, but if you have replaced or upgraded components since you first installed it, you might have a little problem. From what I have read from others, a phone call to MS was all that it took, without too much hassle. Whether you have to do this depends on which and how many components are involved.

1) First try the activate online option
2) If it fails choose the telephone option and Bob in India will give you a confirmation code
