reinstalling Windows?

So Usually when I re install I have just wiped all clean and re installed. I was wondering what the best procedure to re install on a dual partition is.

I have a 1TB hdd, c:/ 100GB a:/ 831GB

c: is my windows part and most of everything I have I install to A: games, software etc. I dont know what programs may have ties to the c: its been almost 6 months since my last wipe.

I also have 4 users on the machine

Can I just wipe C: and reinstall, will that create all kinds of broken threads? I dont really know the best way to back up because I have no external drives or spare drives. Plus how long would a good back up take?

Thoughts?

If you've been installing programs to A then wiping C will leave those programs orphaned. It's not strictly an issue, but they'll be taking up space until they're either manually deleted or individually reinstalled in the same manner.

oh, so it breaks the associations with the programs. SO whats the point then? Im better off just backing up the data files and doing a full wipe? Is there a good free backup program to be recommended?

I dont think it was a good install. I get BSOD a bit, much more than ever before. I had gotten the disk from a friend of mine who ran an IT business but now I think it may not have been a "good" copy. Ive since gotten a licensed full business version of 7 pro through my job so I was thinking at the least ill know its a legit clean install. And now that I think about it, it might have been more like a year ago.

Having a separate partition for files and documents works well since you don't have to back them up to reinstall the operating system. But putting programs on a second partition doesn't accomplish anything since you'll have to reinstall them anyway when you reinstall the operating system.
