I reformatted my HD to reinstall win xp from 98, with disc in drive it is saying no os detected, and i'm booting from cd, can anyone help me with this?

So, you're saying that "boot from cd" is set as the first boot option? Does a line come up on the boot screen that says "press any key to boot from cd"? Is it a factory cd? If you have more than 1 optical drive, are you using the first one on the channel (master)?

i would check the cmos to see what's set as first boot it sounds like it's trying to boot from the hd. Set primary to floppy, secondary to cdrom then third to hard drive. and try again.
