Reinstalling Windows XP on Dell C400?

Trying to upgrade the HD in my used Dell C400 laptop I purchased off EBay. It has a COA for XP Pro (one reason I installed). However, when I try and install WinXP from an ISO copy of WinXP Pro I downloaded from the web, when it asks for my COA key, it says it's not valid.

I'm wondering if the Dell COA number can be only used on a Dell Restoration CD? Any suggestions? I've seen Dell XP OEM disks on EBay, but I thought it didn't matter what version of WinXP Pro u used as long as u have the COA key.

Thanks.

I'm not sure that is happening, I install the non OEM version of XP Pro and I get all the way up to the point of asking for the COA Key.

You're probably D/Led corporate.

I believe I remember seeing that in the description. I didn't realize there was a different versions of XP Pro. And of course MS won't let you download a non corporate version of WinXP Pro. 🙁
