I have dual booted Win98 and W2k but now need to reinstall Win98. How do I reinstall Win 98 in a dual boot envirnoment with w2k ?

just reinstall windows as you would normally. this will overwrite the win2k boot sector..so after you are done insatlling win98, pop in your win2k cd and do a repair. all there is to it 🙂

Actually, I've installed win98 after win2k and it hasnt caused me any problems. The only thing different I've noticed is that the cursor defaults to win98 on the bootup screen. But, if you select win2k, it boots fine. The default position of the cursor can be set in win2k.

To be safe, use 'setup /ntldr' when reinstalling Win9x. To be extra safe, have an emergency repair floppy from the Win2K side of life just in case you have to repair the MBR to boot Win2K again.

Save your boot.ini file before reinstalling Win98. Reinstall and then replace the new boot.ini with the one you saved.

I reinstalled Win 98 and used the Win2k cd to boot into W2k but now I cant boot into win98 again. How do I add Win98 to Win2k boot loader?

I did this before all the good advise.
SUOrangeman - How do I use 'setup/ntldr' when reinstalling Win9x?

Add "C:\=Windows 98" to c:\boot.ini if it's already installed and you can get into Win2K.

Unless the world has changed, you have to boot into DOS to install Win9x. Instead of issuing the standard 'setup' command at the DOS prompt, use 'setup /ntldr'.
