I completely forgot to pass on to all interested that a few weeks back when I swapped my DP35DP Intel board with a C2D 8400- for a DP55SB Intel board with an I5-750 I was running WIN7 Ultimate and was prepared to try and run a WIN7 repair to get things working again. To my surprise, after a little more time to boot up it started working again without a hiccup! I had absolutely no problems with the new machine with the exception of LAN functionality.
It appears that LAN device drivers are not normally changed or updated when you upgrade from Vista to WIN 7 and the new mother board 's disk required a manual install of the latest LAN device driver. That gave me a headache because the new LAN driver could not communicate with the old Vista/DP35DP LAN chip driver and could not install - no LAN functionality - no internet - no update of all the mobo drivers. Finally was able to install the new LAN chip driver by going to system/device manager/and updating the driver on the LAN device properties and pointing the update to the driver on the DP55SB disc. After that all was well.
