Reinstallation of XP Pro with Dynamic Disks

Here's my issue:

A while back I bought a Raptor and copied my previous windows hard drive's data onto it. Since I copied all the data, I've been having some weird issues such as msconfig failing to load when launched, weird issues with Office, and some weird crashing with games.

I think that reinstalling windows and everything else I need will fix the problem but of course, I'd like to avoid doing that.

If I do have to reinstall though, I have another problem. I have a Windows RAID installed on my 2 older hard drives. One of them is a 160 gb disk, the other is an 80. I split half the 160 with the full 80 to make a RAID 0 and formatted the remaining 80 into a regular old storage drive, though still a dynamic disk.

If I reinstall windows (can't do a repair install), will I lose all the data on the RAID and Storage drive?

Thanks!

After doing your windows reinstall on the Raptor you should be able to initialize the other drives. After initializing you will be able to mount both volumes.

Worse case the biggest problem you may run into is having to rebuild the mirror (remove the 80GB drive, add it back in and let Windows recreate); otherwise you should be fine.

As always I recommend backing up anything important beforehand, just in case.

Regards,
Erik
