Hi,

I have a fairly clean installation of Win2000 and I am planning to swap in a new MB and CPU sometime soon. I am going from a AMD t-bird to a newer XP chip.

Will it hurt anything if I DO NOT re-install windows? It takes way too much time to come back up to speed again....

I went from an A7V133/900Tbird to a TigerMP/2x1.2AthlonMP and didn't reload. Although you'll have to reinstall all your drivers because Windows likes to do that for some odd reason.

If you're moving to a new mb with a 2k install, you may want to do some research first. You'll more than likely get some kind of a stop error
if you don't first revert back to standard ide drivers before swapping mobo's. I used to remember the specifics of the problem, but
i'm drawing a blank, hehe. Even if you revert to standard ide drivers, you may still have a problem with the HAL (hardware abstract layer).
Do some research on it first.
