Main Stream Media finally checks in with the story:

USA Today

No real 'legs' for the story yet, but doubt is cast on the participants.

Maybe we should punish him by making him a member of Congress, that'll teach him.

Of course when I do that people accuse me of working for some GOP member and having a research staff.)

Don't feel bad. The conspiracy theories here are quite amusing. Hell it has been suggested that I am really George W. Bush!

Don't debase yourself Pabster, you're much sharper.

This is bad, but I have no love for Harry Reid, I think he's a spineless twit.

Since this is just getting off the ground, there's another story that needs to brought up as well.

Why did Karl Rove's assistant Susan Ralston, resign last week quietly once it was revealed that Ambramoff didn't have 'a couple' contacts with high level WH officials, more on the order of 400+? Hmmmm.....

Obviously with tongue firmly in cheek. I'm quite certain President Bush couldn't figure out how to register here, much less post.

I am still looking forward to your providing more detail in the Rumsfeld thread - to date you have just said you felt he was "doing a good job." I am sincerely interested in why people support him, to the extent they do.

As it happens I've posted pics here of myself in uniform, and in a deployed location. I can easily prove my military status and demonstrate that I hold a bar license in two states.

As for your "professorship," I think that's a different story.

this story won't be allowed to get any legs by the MSM, at least not till after the mid-term elections. Surprised USA Today mentioned it, but I will be in "shock and awe" if the Today Show, CBS News, et al make mention of this. Its gonna be all Foley. Foley, Foley Foley.

If this doesn't get traction, it will, IMO, be for two reasons:

a) This deal is typical of the kinds of shenanigans that Congressmen routinely engage in, and there are countless examples of it on both sides of the aisle; and

b) It is a much harder story to convey and understand than the Foley story, which has a lot more visceral appeal from a news standpoint.

I don't buy into the myth of a "liberal media," but to the extent they really are, this is the kind of story that lends itself to being buried by everyone but the Fox News/Newsmax/Limbaughs of the world. We shall see . . .

remember, this is the minority leader of the Senate we're talking about, someone who has been spouting "culture of corruption" for over a year. That makes it more signifcant too, no?

Yeah, but the Speaker of the House generated twice as much profit from a land deal he failed to disclose to the Ethics Committee, and HIS profits came as a direct result of legislation he helped pass. Regardless, the story was barely a blip on the media radar, although IMO it was a far more serious breach than his inaction regarding Mark Foley, again IMO because it is a harder story to understand. I don't really see how any Republican who was unconcerned about Hastert's deal can feign outrage over what Reid apparently did (though from my perspective both are unacceptable).

One of my law firm's clients is a heavy investor in real estate, and he seems to permanently be holding or borrowing against at least ten loans or notes with his cadre of real-estate buddies. The deals he and his cronies engage in are often complex, involving several different properties in different states, prepared without the assistance of lawyers, and involve eight-figure sums. It seems crazy to me, and it's often tough-to-impossible to pull apart the mare's nests these guys get themselves into, but they all seem happy with the situation, and litigation only flares up once every few years. It sounds to me like the Reid deal may be something along these lines, but at this point I'd say it's too early to tell.

I would like to see the Democratic party conduct an ethics investigation and fire Reid from any job he has in the party if found guilty.

Look this Reid thing smells fishy right off the bat. Reid profited over a $1 Million dollars on a real estate deal that he wasn't even a party to. WTF? If he did something illegal, I will join the calls for his resignation. And no love lost there, for I find him somewhat of a jackass.

Now that he sees he is completely blinded by the propagandistic nonsense he's absorbed from the conservative culture he's steeped in he will now apply his new self understanding and cease forthwith to have any more similarly robotized opinions. He has just discovered that he is Howard Dean, or should I say, himself projected on Dean. His opinions have for a long time been worthless, but a new start is possible now, one based on modesty and humility and deep soul searching, or at least we can hope.

I don't think so. We are talking here of a serious Christian. It was Christianity that as a child sent me on the path of merciless honesty or as merciless as I knew how to be because what is the point of self deception when God knows all.

"We have been friends for over 35 years. We didn't need a written agreement between us," Brown said.

And most people will probably agree and say "yeah, that's what friends do."

Well, sorry folks, UCC laws strictly state that real estate deals must be in writing.

This is AWESOME!!! It only took you guys six posts to make this all about sex.

So is that the new threshhold of corruption the Dems will accept? Gay sex with interns, bad. Illegal land deals... meh. (as long as the deal was made by a Dem of course)

But hetero sex with White House Aids is still okay ;)

Two wrongs don't make a right, but this sure shows the partisian hackery of the Grand Old Party.

I just hope the Party is over, I want to go home.

How about focusing on prosecuting Foley for solicitation of a minor, lewd & lascivious conduct, and/or child molestation?

iirc, 16 is the age of consent in DC, and i hadn't heard that any of these guys were under 16. maybe they were outside of DC. and i haven't heard that he actually touched any of these guys, which is probably an element of child molestation.

anyway, that reid, from nevada, is getting money under the table from casinos isn't surprising. wasn't he a big recepient of abramoff money?

Yeah, after all everyone knows that all Polititians like to kiss babies, he just waited until they were a little older,
and he was a bit more specific as to what and where he liked to kiss them . .
