Regular vs. Unbuffered vs. Registered DDR RAM

I have heard that it is required to have registered DDR RAM if you are using more than 2 slots in your motherboard. I also don't really know what the difference between the three types of RAM listed above is. If you could inform me, I would really appreciate it.

I was also curious if there is CAS2 512MB of DDR RAM availiable, I looked, but I didn't find any.

regular is unbuffered. the rumor you state is untrue. registered is also called ECC. it basically checks for errors in ram.

registered is different from ECC which is different from buffered which is different from parity

Dont ask me what exactly thedifference is but those are all different.
