Regular TNT fan or heatsink?

I have a classic TNT1 (with VIVO!) which is all I really need, but the fan is noisy as heck! Can this card run okay (not overclocked!) with just a good heatsink or should I try to get a better, quieter fan?

Any advice on thermal goop to stick the heatsink (or HSF) on with?
Cheap is the order of the day. 🙂

You don`t really need a fan on the TNT card,my ex-TNT(Creative) had just a big heatsink on it so I guess if your heatsink is decent you should be fine.

My old V550 TNT had only a heatsink, and I had'er clocked to 110 MHz core no problems (but my front case fan did give it some cooling) but no, just a heatsink should work for 90MHz. You know both my friends have new systems with M64's in them ( NOT VANTA's ,1 a 750 Athlon, 1 an 800eb PIII) and I ran QIII timedemo's on thier systems. And much to my suprise, and based on info I recorded on my old system before upgrading (again), my old TNT and 366@550MHz absolutely destroyed them. M64's suck.😛

I hear ya Killrose.Where i work we all got brand new free pc's.I ordered the basis HP with a celeron 533 and it had the biult in agp video.I pulled my old creative TNT pci of the shelf and put it in the pc for my son and it still seems to play annything pretty well.He only play in 800x600 though.Still it does the trick for him. Also it has no fan on it just a heatsink and when i had it in my rig it was clocked at 115 like that.

Found one that did, the ASUS 3400TNT had a VIVO version! 🙂
$35 got me a decent lil' card that also gives me a TV since I don't have one.
I think I'll be prying open the case again to stick on that heatsink...
I should be find with just a nice, big heatsink. Even CL only used a little one... I just have to make sure there's a good layer of thermal goop on it. 😛
