I am tying to write one. Does anyone know where in the registry this info is kept for Windows XP?

I'm not sure if this helps because it might defeat what you're trying to do but I know that's an option under "Folder Options" in Windows XP. Do you want to hide all extensions or just certain ones?

Thanks for the response, though I am aware of that option. I would like to make a patch on my desktop so I can switch between the two options quickly.
