Registry key for Outlook that has all of your email accounts in it?

I have nine different email accounts that I use with Outlook. Obviously, each one has a different name and password.

I'm building a new box and want to get Outlook running ASAP. Is there a registry key that I can export that has all my account(s) info, then just import it on the new box?

I looked under hkey current user\software\microsoft\office\outlook\accounts but the key looks empty.

Thanks. :)

just open outlook, open the contact window that shows all your contacts and click file at top and then export and import. you then export to file. then choose personal folder file which is .pst and save to it someplace then put that file on flash drive or something. then just do the reverse to restore on the new computer. i use this method all the time, i am not sure that there is registry key to do what you want. i know there are programs that you can buy to do this. hope this helps

That doesn't transfer account info. He still would have to re-create each of the accounts, type in all the server settings, etc. Moving old mails and contact lists is the easy part.

If you have Office 2003 on the source machine, use Save My settings Wizard from the Office Tools drop down menu. You also need to copy your .pst file yourself.

If you have Office 2007 on the source machine, and the destination machine is Vista, you need to use Windows Easy Transfer.

If you have Office 2007 on the source machine and XP on the destination machine, I am not aware of any solution from a reputable source.

Bruceb & Navid: Thanks very much! That's some great info. I never knew about the Save My Settings Wizard. I've only had Office 2003 since oh....2003.

I've always copied my .pst file (and back it up daily w/NTBACKUP) but never knew I could save my settings like that.

The .ops file it created is 273KB in size; lots of stuff in there...

I'm a little unclear on the restoration process though. Do I run the Save My Settings wizard, then Restore on the new box, THEN point it to my saved .pst? Or do I point to the .pst first, then do the restore settings?

Thanks again very much.

Run "Save my settings wizard" on the old machine and save the settings in a file. Save the file on a CD or on a partition that will not be formatted during your re-install.
Save the .pst file on a CD or on a partition that will not be formatted.
Install Office on the new machine.
Run Outlook but quit out without setting up any email accounts.
With no Office application running, restore the settings from the file you created using the "Save my settings" wizard on your old machine.
Replace the current .pst file with the backed up version.
Run outlook. All your email accounts, calendar events, contacts, etc. will be there. However, you will have to enter all the email account passwords. The passwords are not saved.

if I remember correctly, each email address will have it's own .pst file in the /dowc and seetings/user account/local setting or application data/microsoft/outlook/(pst here).

you can migrate those files to the same directory when you get outlook reinstalled. once you move those files over, go to control pane and select "mail"

click email accounts and create a new email profile for each of your email accounts. you can then tie the pst file to their respective email account within the wizard.

At elast this is how I remember it. it's been a while though.

good luck
