Registry keeps getting corrupted. Please help!

When I cold boot this computer, I get a message saying that the registry has an error and I need to reboot in order to fix it. I reboot and everything seems to be fine. When the computer has finished booting (Windows 98 SE), I run the Registry Checker to verify that everything is okay and it comes back and tells me the the registry is fine. The next time I cold boot the computer, I get the registry error again and repeat the process.

Could this possibly be caused by a virus? Anyone have any idea why this happens or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Virus maybe but unlikly...more likely is that you have bad memoy somewhere. RAM, cache etc...start trying to narrow it down one different piece at a time...

Are you overclocking? Sometimes if you don't have enough voltage to the CPU, or I/O you can get this message. What are your system specs?
