Registry editing from DOS Mode?

There's a problem with my winlogon rights. I need to change the permissions to them from Dos. How can I get into the registry to make the changes? I can get to Dos mode by booting with an XP disk, but need to figure out how to edit the registry. Anyone have any clues? Thanks-
