Looking for a good, safe registry cleaner utility. In the past I have used RegCleaner, (by Jouni Vuorio). Seems with my new install of XP Pro, though, it isn't working correctly. Rather than fuss with it, I'm wondering if any other recommendations for a similar utility are available. Thanks.

I`ve a copy on my WinXP Pro and it`s working ok,my version is 4.3 build 780,anyway you can try Clean registry 1.1 .

I was able to run that very same version on my previous install of XP Pro. Now, with this fresh install, twice it hasn't been functioning. It kept freezing up the PC. Rather than fuss with it, I figure there must be other good utilities available. Thanks for the link.

I just tried that software based on your recommendation, Mem, and I liked it with one exception: the demo version makes you delete bad entries manually one at a time. Other than that the scan was relatively quick given the size of my registry. None of the deleted entries have caused any problems with Windows. And of the over 600 entries it found for me to delete all but 45 were actually deleteable with the program.

Not bad. Thanks for the tip.

Another program I was pointed to can be found here. I haven't tried it yet, but I think I'm going to give it a run.

Megatomic/Carbo you`re welcome, there`re quite a few good registry cleaners around, in the end it`s always personal preferance.

I also like the one included in VCOM SystemSuite V5 a lot as well, but you have to pay for the SystemSuite V5 software.

:)

Yeah, I installed it and ran it a short while ago. Seems good so far. Easy to use, quick to run, and it yanked a load of garbage out of the registry.

I'm trying a couple of reg cleaners and each one finds different stuff. Isn't there one that will find all of it?
