Does anyone here know what would happen if I restored a backup registry after I have changed the video card in the computer?
 
The same thing that would happen if you pulled your video card and put in a new one. Windows will default to VGA at boot, and then offer to install the "new" video card if it doesn't already have suitable driver installed.
