I have an earthlink account which contains web hosting. Can I register a domain from let say godaddy.com and use it for my earthlink webpage? Thanks.

yes.

Register the domain. When it is set up, you'll have to find out what nameservers earthlink wants you to use. You'll put those in on the godaddy administration and internet magic will take care of the rest. Easy stuff, as long as earthlink isn't a PITA.

As far as I know they won't offer you a hosted service like that, only a URL to which you can redirect, not a true "hosted" domain.
