I got an iPhone 4 this summer from the Apple Store. My friend got a 3G or 3GS in December 2009 from the Bell Store (cell phone carrier in Canada), and purchased the AppleCare Protection Plan. He never registered it, and gave it to me last week, still sealed in the plastic wrapping.
So I try to register it on Apple's web site, doesn't work, I have to send a proof of purchase. I upload my phone's receipt, but I don't have the AppleCare receipt. I never got a reply from Apple, so today I decided to call them. Well, after 30 minutes on the phone, the nice lady tells me she'll register it, but if I ever need to get my phone fixed, I'll "probably" need the AppleCare receipt as well.
So right now I have a registered AppleCare under my phone's serial number, but won't be able to use it unless my friend can find his receipt from last year. LOL, is it always such a PITA?? 😀
